Shining a Spotlight on Innovators Changing Lives

Technology innovation can take many forms. What’s truly inspiring is when technology is used to improve people’s lives with creative solutions to environmental and societal challenges.
Applied Materials recently gathered with other business and community leaders at the Tech for Global Good event to honor passionate innovators who are using technology to address critical problems facing our future.
This year’s honorees are harnessing the power of the sun and cell phones. They are programming drones, advocating for ocean health and educating girls in the field of artificial intelligence. Many of their solutions focus on enabling women and others often excluded from full participation in society to engage more actively in their communities and the world around us.

Also recognized at the event was Julie Packard, the recipient of this year’s James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award, presented by Applied Materials. Julie's life is dedicated to ocean conservation, education and research. Her work inspires all of us to become stewards of the sea and our earth by making better life choices every day.
Named after Applied’s chairman emeritus, the James C. Morgan Global Humanitarian Award was inspired by Jim Morgan’s belief that technology can be a tool to help us reach our fullest potential and turn ideas into solutions for a better world.
