For over 30 years the U.S. APC Conference has been a premier showcase for the latest innovations in advanced process control (APC) for microelectronics manufacturing. From the first run-to-run (R2R) control and fault detection and classification (FDC) successes in the 90’s, to fab-wide solutions in the 2000s, the conference continues to be the premier venue for understanding the direction of high precision manufacturing automation and control—including the movement to predictive technologies such as virtual metrology and predictive maintenance (PdM).

As we enter the era of Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0, the APC Conference has again taken the lead, providing access to the latest industry advances in big data solutions, artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques, and new innovations in smart manufacturing topical areas such as digital twin (DT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

The 2019 APC Conference will leverage the successful structure that has been used since 2009. Specifically, on Day 1, tutorials will be offered that will give insight into the latest APC and smart manufacturing technologies as well as provide a primer for those who are new to these technologies and provide a refresher course for more experienced APC practitioners.

Days 2 and 3 will feature technical talks from users, OEMs, APC solution suppliers, and related interests, including contributions by experts from both industry and academia. Soon to be announced keynote speakers will include representatives of major players in the user and OEM communities. Between technical talk sessions and during evening receptions an environment will be provided to encourage attendees to share ideas, visit booths of companies providing APC capabilities, and attend a technical poster session.

The conference will conclude with an APC Council meeting on Day 4 of the conference. This technical meeting, which gathers key experts in APC needs and solutions, has traditionally focused on key technical challenges in the industry such as making FDC more effective, providing methods for ensuring data partitioning and IP security, and incorporating subject-matter-expertise into analytics.

This year the Council meeting will center on "security and the cloud," considering solution approaches and ideas that include data partitioning and IP security. This is a unique opportunity for conference attendees to join chip makers, suppliers, OEMs and technology experts in charting a course for the future of the industry.

Who, What, When, and Where?

The 2019 APC Conference will be held October 28-31 at the Embassy Suites Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio, Texas. The conference is underwritten by the Integrated Measurement Association (IMA), which has organized the event for the past seven years. The conference Call for Papers is now open, and can be found at www.APCconference.com—along with the latest updates on the conference agenda, hotel information and sponsorship opportunities.
