Gil Kim joined Applied Ventures in 2022 as Investment Manager. His focus areas include semiconductor, display, battery, and carbon tech. Gil also leads Applied Ventures’ Korea-related engagements, including investment, pipeline building, portfolio management, as well as fundraising.

Prior to joining Applied Ventures, Gil spent 2.5 years as a Business Development Manager for the Semiconductor Service and Display business units (BU) at Applied Materials, where he was responsible for inorganic activities such as investment, M&A, JV/partnership, and more. During his time, he managed the inorganic growth pipeline per each BU’s strategy and identified new opportunities with the BUs, Applied Ventures, and Corporate M&A.

Before Applied Materials, he was a Manager at Bain & Company San Francisco and Seoul, where he had extensive project experience with tech clients, such as Intel, Samsung, SK Hynix, Cisco, LG, and private equity funds across the world.

Gil holds a Master’s degree from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor degree from Yonsei University, both in Industrial Engineering. Outside of work, he enjoys playing golf and outdoor activities with his family.
